Hello! My name is Luis Arturo Tapia and I’m a director, cinematographer, and producer. I’ve made all sorts of films in my 20 years as a professional filmmaker, and my work has appeared on the BBC, Discovery, Dragon TV, ESPN, International Channel Shanghai, iQiyi, National Geographic, The Olympic Channel, Tencent, and in festivals around the world.

In my own work I tend to gravitate towards verite documentary filmmaking … with a heightened cinema aesthetic. And sometimes I like adding a touch of magical realism. But more than anything I just like telling stories with moving pictures, and I love exploring different styles and techniques.

Born in Mexico and raised in Texas, I was based in Shanghai and Hong Kong from 2002-2022. I am currently based in Dallas and available internationally.

I majored in East Asian Studies at Princeton University and speak native English, fluent Spanish, and fluent Mandarin Chinese.
